Hello, writing friends!
Common House's annual themed flash contest has officially opened for submissions! Our theme this year is "POSSESSION." For your submission to be considered, it must align with this theme in some discernible way. We are accepting one submission of poetry or short prose (fiction/creative non-fiction, up to 750 words) from each contributor until Wednesday, August 26th @ 11:59 PM.
This theme can open you up as a writer to question ideas of ownership and value. Or, source inspiration from the emotions caused by possessiveness---loss, love, jealousy, hunger? You could even explore the world of the supernatural: demons, ghosts, forces that control the body, mind, and soul. Could the feeling of being possessed show up in moments of non-fiction as well?
We invite you to interpret this theme in your own way, and we can't wait to see what you come up with. Winners will receive cash prizes, and their pieces will be published on our website! Submit at https://www.commonhousemag.com/announcements.
